Why Cats Purr
Most cat owners know the soft, low sound their pets make when they are relaxed. This sound, called purring, is usually linked to ____(1). However, scientists have found that cats also purr when they are hurt, frightened or giving birth. （缺一句话） One theory suggests that purring may help cats ____(2) themselves. The vibrations of a purr fall within a range of frequencies that are known to support the healing of bones and muscles. Another idea is that kittens purr to tell their mothers that they are safe and well fed. Although researchers have not reached a final ____(3), it is clear that purring is more complex than it first appears.
